Ahh the holidays! The jolliest – and busiest – time of the year. We all have places to go, people to see and of course, events to attend in a million places. Hello, holiday travel tips! It seems that come November, all the airport lines triple and people’s travel schedules seriously book up. As exciting as it is to travel, we know that it can be s-t-r-e-s-s-f-u-l and put a wrench in your wellness routine. Not to worry – we got you covered with our top holiday travel tips to keep you on track during your travels from airport to arrivals.
Declutter your Suitcase
Trust me, I know what it’s like to be a notorious over-packer. But sometimes too many options causes anxiety and turns packing for an exciting holiday trip into a negative experience. Make a list of the outfits you need and pack accordingly so you just keep it simple (and stylish) on your trip. I’m a big believer that less is more, so bring what you need and keep it tidy! Packing cubes are amazing to keep your our items super organized and help save space. They are game-changing for holiday travel tips!
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
It is so easy and common to get dehydrated when traveling. Between not be able to bring water across TSA and running from gate to gate, sometimes we can forget to drink water. Always bring an empty water bottle and immediately fill up when you get past security. It is so important! You might have to use the lavatory on the plane, but it’s worth it for hydration. This will especially help with those of us who get a tad bit nauseas on flights. Once you land, you’ll acclimate quicker, sleep better, and feel better for your entire trip.
Airport food is famously unhealthy (and expensive!) and the last thing you want is to get hunger pangs when there are zero options. Yikes! I always load my carry on with Health Warrior Chia Bars and Health Warrior Pumpkin Seed Protein Bars. The flavors are endless so your options will not run out. They are packed with protein, fiber and have clean ingredients that are low in sugar. These help curb your hunger and feed you the good stuff until you can get to your next meal. Pro tip – bring some portable nut butter packets to spread on the bars. It tastes amazing!
Keep it fresh
Whether you can get a little shut eye or not, planes are super dry and usually not very clean. Pack some refreshing face wipes, hand sanitizer and aspartame-free gum with you to freshen up after or during your flight. I’m also a fan of the mini eye mask pads help brighten your under eyes and make you look and feel more awake. Plus, they make for cute Instagram stories!
Prepare your entertainment
You never know what the movie selection is going to be on the plane – so prepare your entertainment in advance. Download podcasts, bring a book to read, or better yet a journal to keep you busy and do a little self care on the plane (productive right?). Or if you’re feeling social, get to know the person beside you. It’s always fun to connect with new people when traveling. We all need a little human connection around the holidays.
I hope everyone traveling this holiday season stays safe, healthy and of course well-fed!
